BUCEGI

The Bucegi Mountains stand, at their highest, 2500m tall. Well-preserved wilderness on a large area.
The horse-shoe shaped massif has contrasting landscapes - steep, tall edges, with waterfalls and spectacular rock formations like Sfinx and Babele, high plateaux, mature woods (over 50m tall trees) and convoluted caves.
Accessible via cable, asphalt road in construction. On foot the peak is not very easily accessible, especially during the winter, but there are beaten trails and you can ask for assistance from specialized crews.
Accommodation is available in the area (both in the nearby towns and along the track - refuges, cabin logs, b&b's)
